Get to know Waseem

Driven by the passion of making memories and artistic landscapes I got into photography in 1996 using simple KODAK film camera then Zenit ET SLR before entering digital photography world in 2007.

Entering the digital world and the rise of adobe Photoshop and photomatrix opened a whole new world to discover starting with flickr where I built my first international online presence and got interacted with awesome photographers around the world.

I needed two years only to start doing serious commercial photography in Syria and start collecting local and international awards.

2007 till now my photos were promoted many times as best shots in many groups and I'm a member of international flickr best landscape photographers (promotion membership
On the 9th of May 2009 I won the first place in the competition “Lattakia In Photos” and became famous in my city and Country, then had many of my photos published by “Al-Shateh ADV Group”
On August 2009 I won the silver medal in (Architecture photography) during Arab-European photo festival in Hamburg/Germany.
On September 2009 I had three interviews, one with "Al-Wehda" newspaper and two on Syrian national TV and Sat channel.
On October 2009 I became the official professional photo partner for ASDD-Engineering Company in Qatar.
On January 2010 I managed a photography workshop for SDar real-estate Company and became reliable professional photographer for them.
On December 2010 I won the Golden Medal in (Culture Photography) during Arab-European photo festival Hamburg/Germany.
Between 2011 and 2018 I did several photoshoots for many clients but on a very small and limited scale.
On May 2018 I decided to run serious commercial photography business in KSA and Turkey using my 10 years of experience in business establishment and management.

Local & International Award-Winning Photographer Waseem Asmar

he Latakia Youth International Chamber held the "Latakia in Pictures" competition, which concluded with an exhibition that included over 340 photos from 64 contestants and participants. The National Museum of Latakia hosted this exhibition, which will continue for three days, starting on Saturday, May 9, 2009, the opening day.

The competition's theme was to capture the most beautiful photograph that reflects the city of Latakia, including its neighborhoods, buildings, nature, landmarks, people, and their daily lives.

August 2009 | AUOP Europe - silver medal "Architectural Photography"

On Friday evening, the President of the Hamburg-Altona Parliament, Mr. Andreas Grothstieg, officially opened the 6th Arab-European Festival of Photographic Art and the Cultural Week 2009 at the State Parliament building, under the theme "History, Art, and Authenticity".

The event was attended by the diplomatic corps, including the representative of the Tunisian Republic in Hamburg, and various Arab and German art associations.

The highlight of the event was the "6th Photography Competition", which showcased the best works from the international competition organized annually in Germany - Hamburg. The organizing committee received 8,037 photos from 364 photographers from 23 Arab and European countries. The jury, composed of experts in photography, history, and culture, carefully evaluated the works and selected the winning photographs in the different categories.

In the Architecture category, the Syrian artist Waseem Asmar was awarded the Silver Medal.

The 7th Arab-European Festival of Photographic Art and the 1st International Photography Conference were held in Hamburg, Germany from December 1-23, 2010 under the theme "Environmental Protection: The Path to a Green Future". The opening ceremony was attended by high-level dignitaries, including the President of the Hamburg Parliament, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Hamburg, and representatives from various embassies and international organizations. The festival and conference featured participation from artists from 39 countries, who submitted a total of 8,732 photographs for the competition. The winner of the Golden Award in the Culture Photography category was Waseem Asmar from Syria, for his depiction of a modern, dance performance representing contemporary women's culture.

2010-2014 | Several Exhibitions

From 2010 to 2014, I had the opportunity to participate in several exhibitions, with three of them taking place in the United Arab Emirates. It was an amazing experience to showcase my work in such a diverse and vibrant cultural setting. The exhibitions allowed me to connect with art enthusiasts and professionals from around the world, and I was able to gain valuable exposure for my art.
The United Arab Emirates, with its rich history and modern infrastructure, provided a unique backdrop for my work and I was able to draw inspiration from the local culture and surroundings. The experience of exhibiting in the UAE has left a lasting impression on me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share my art with such a diverse and appreciative audience.
